Review: It’s Skin – Macaron Lip Balm

Product: Lip Balm
Brand: It’s Skin
Price: $5.55 usd
Buy from: Gmarket

Macarons have taken Melbourne by storm. Everywhere you see new cafes and patissieries popping up offering their own twist on macarons. Too be honest, I’m quite tired of it by now, and after trying so many different macarons, I still think the ones made by Violet were the best I’ve ever eaten.

But macaron lip balms are a completely different thing. I adore food and cosmetics packaged to look like food? Oh, come to mumma!!

Here’s the original photo taken from the sales page:

Adorable. I couldn’t leave this alone, I had to buy it! So into my shopping cart it went. I purchase the strawberry and green apple flavours and have been using them on and off since I received them earlier this week.

What I think:

  • Incredible price point.
  • Adorable packaging
  • Does its job beautifully as a lip balm
  • Non-greasy
  • Smells and taste faintly of the flavour it’s meant to be.
  • Scent does not linger – big tick!

Sold? Hell yeah, I’m sold. I want to purchase heaps more so I can give them out to friends! I think they’d make amazing little gifts. If you have a chance, do get some for yourself too! If enough people request for it, I’ll put up a page on how to purchase from gmarket.

What do you think, would you buy them?

These are adorable! What are the other flavours?
I want to dive into the world of Asian cosmetics, but am intimidated by the language barrier. ):

Aw dearie, don’t be! I can’t speak nor read Korean either. So I just go with pictures and hope for the best! Usually I do have a fairly good idea as to what I’m buying tho. Chrome’s translate plugin helps heaps!

The other flavours are grape and pineapple. I didn’t actually think about the flavours when I got them… I just went with the colours I liked. Haha.

Those are just darling! I’d snap these up in a heartbeat.
I feel slightly embarassed to admit that I don’t actually like macarons. Everyone seems to be raving about them at the moment, but I don’t see what’s so awesome about them. Give me cupcakes any day.

I really think it depends on which macarons you eat. When I first tried some, I really didn’t like them as they were just sugar bombs. But you need to find the ones that aren’t just loaded with sugar, have beautiful subtle flavouring that just wins through and the ones that just melt in your mouth.

Not many people can achieve it. And my preferred macarons now are the ones Violet make! Hehehe.

I love asian cosmetics. The packaging is just incredibly sweet, and impossible to resist. I personally wouldn’t buy from morning glory though, because chances are they will be way overpriced.

I’ll see what I can do about that Gmarket post!

I actually prefer these more. More delicious in scent and did way more for my lips than the EOS lip balms did! They are slightly greasier than the EOS lip balms but not by much. Hope that helps!

It’s more worthwhile if you make a nice big order from various other shops on gmarket. Or split the order with somebody else, so the shipping cost can be halved as well. OR – send me an email and I’ll add your order into my next order. Haha.

Ouch!! That is painful shipping for such small items. It’s cheaper if you get other stuff as well, or if you can split the shipping with a friend. If I find a USA/Canada based supplier, I’ll let you know!
