For others, the 13th of August might have been a very normal day. But for 15 girls in Adelaide, the 13th of August marked a new beginning. After many months of planning, the inaugural Adelaide Beauty Conference was finally here and the atmosphere was buzzing.
The brainchild of Celeste from Becoming-beautiful.com, the Adelaide Beauty Conference aimed to fill a void that had plague Adelaide for many years. The lack of events despite the growing blogger population had left many in envy of their more fortunate counterparts in other cities such as Melbourne and Sydney. The lack of events meant that bloggers didn’t realise just how many other bloggers there were in the small city of Adelaide. The feeling was echoed by many – that they were the only blogger in Adelaide and it was lonely.
The event kicked off with an introduction by Celeste Wong, followed by Emma Bayly, owner of Liquid Hair and Violet Le Beaux who was the special guest who had been flown up from Melbourne specially for the event. Introductions and speeches were kept succinct in order for everybody to be able to fully maximise their time at the conference.
The Conference proper started off with a demonstration from Dermalogica, with Josie on hand to show us just how a Microzone treatment was done. There were products available for bloggers to try and many were wowed by the quality of Dermalogica products. Josie also explained to us about the FITE initiative that Dermalogica is currently running and it was heartwarming to see the girls rising to the occasion and passionately discussing the opportunity to help the less fortunate.
Concurrently, Emma Bayly from Liquid Hair was holding a different demonstration on the other end of the salon in order to teach the beauty bloggers more about Cloud Nine and hair styling. Emma held the girls spellbound, showing just how easy it was to have beautiful hair with a bit of skill and the right equipment. It was a fantastic demonstration that left many with a burning urge to own the beautiful straighteners and wand from Cloud Nine.
Next up was a Nail Art demonstration and Bold Makeup look by Violet Le Beaux and Miss Kitty Charms respectively. Violet was an amazing and patient teacher demonstrating the complicated art of drawing roses and leopard prints on the model’s nails, all while answering questions and giving encouragement for others to try nail art for themselves. An amazing blogger, she was willing to share her expertise and experience in this field with all who attended, much to the girls’ delight.
Miss Kitty Charms also wowed her audience by demonstrating that it was possible to have a blue lip and look good, too. She showed different techniques to achieve bold but wearable looks and even did impromptu looks on the request of the audience. Her bubbly personality made for a very laughter-filled workshop!
Wonderful presenters along with a responsive audience and a relaxed, carefree atmosphere made the Adelaide Beauty Conference a roaring success. It was made even better with the free flow of cupcakes and macarons provided for by Cupcake Treats, and addictive breadsticks and cheese by Add to Cart blog.
Thank you to all sponsors for your generosity: it is thanks to your contributions that the first Adelaide Beauty Conference is off to a running start. Special thanks to all goodie bag sponsors as well for rounding off the event on a high! Here’s to next year!
Thank you to Blue Crane Design for their hard work on the photos and video. And thank you to everybody as well – till next year!
