I Heart Organising: Making sense of a drawer
For new readers, I recently moved house.
Well, not exactly very recently. I moved my Melbourne house to Adelaide in Feb 2012. Then I moved my Murrayville house to the same Adelaide house in Dec 2012. So, I guess it’s kinda recently. Anyways, what I’m trying to get at is that we’ve moved into a really nice house. I mean, really nice house. And for the first time, I actually feel like making the house look pretty. I actually want to have our house looking beautiful and like a magazine. Not that it’s really all that possible, given our two very furry kitties and my tendency to not put things away… but I’ll try.
So I’ll be sharing all the little things I do around the house to make it all look pretty. Given I am now unemployed, I will be doing everything on a budget that is close to non-existant. Which will be great fun!
Today’s project didn’t really need any money. (It totally could, though.)
Argh.
I started out stacking all my shirts upwards. This worked alright for a few months until I had to combine both my wardrobes into one tiny space in Adelaide. Hm. It turned out to be a bit of a disaster. I couldn’t tell what was at the bottom, rummaging through to find that one perfect shirt / top meant mucking up the entire top pile… it just wasn’t working.
Once I decided it wasn’t working, it was a simple thing to fix. Empty all the clothes out, refold them and sort them by colour. Repack.
I don’t have the amazing Tshirt Folder (remember I said something about how I -could- have spent money?), so my tops aren’t all the same size. No matter. I plan on constructing the Tshirt folder soon, so stay tuned!
Isn’t the end result so much more pleasing? I can now see everything I have in the drawer, and it’s so much neater too. Admittedly, not as neat as it could be if my folding skills were better, but I do confess that I’m a hanger sort of girl.
